Engraving was Alanís trade that he learnt over many years. He also enjoyed painting and produced a full portfolio of work, as well as been actively involved in the Bridlington Art Society.

It was once he retired that his interest in wood block engraving started. With me and my brother and sister moved out of the small terrace house in Bridlington, he commandeered a bedroom, much to my mothers annoyance and transformed it into a full working printing area. I have added some images of the workshop which must have thousands of pieces of type set and around 4 andina hand printing presses. It does stop there, aat the bottom of the garden is an enormous printing press. Which was somehow moved into the shed. The shed has since been knocked down and we do not have any idea how my dad got it there. Especially as he did not have a carÖ.
